OUR HISTORY

Miike with a double "i" is pronounced in the Japanese way [mi-i-ké].

Miike Lafayette was born from an anomaly in the algorithm   of an online sales site, when it offered the pretty visual of a pot of white paint from the Angelus brand.

"Fate slipped a nice bottle of leather paint into my basket. Not knowing what to do with it, I first tried to return it but curiosity pushed me to learn more. A simple video on the custom practice was enough to revolutionize my outlook. "I want to do this thing" are the five words I said after watching it."

This phrase, renamed "I want to do custom" by his director  de com, prompted him to buy the primary color kit and a first pair of sneakers. He put all his heart into it , a little fear and sweat to give birth to a flower that he offered to his beauty. He took some pictures of his work   to show friends and that's how he got his first order. He bought a second pair, then another, and yet another and it was on Instagram that the Miike Lafayette adventure began.

It is behind this extended blaze that officiates the artist Williams Camou. Scriptwriter by essence and self-taught graphic designer, he integrates   into his creations floral motifs, typo, touches of contemporary art and tells us a story: that of your desires.

THE CREATOR

“As far as I can remember, I always dreamed of being an artist.

As a kid, I checked out some graphic design and design magazines lying around my parents' house. It was fantastic to see crazy visuals from all over the world.

As a teenager I discovered Photoshop at the same time as the Internet. I paid for my first vacation by hijacking logos that I ironed onto batches of t-shirts. Influenced by 90s pop culture and cinema, I went from engraving and painting in an artists squat to learning how to tattoo pig ears. But I had less trouble with the blood than with the finality of the tattoo.

Years later I discovered painting on leather. Halfway between canvas and skin, shoes make great supports for exercising creativity."
